The Sonic drill method has been selected for all of the external locations along with any internal sample point that is accessible to the equipment. A sonic drill head is used for the drilling and sampling method. The head is a technologically advanced, hydraulically activated unit that imparts a high frequency, sinusoidal wave vibration into the drill string to effectuate the cutting action at the bit face. The resultant cutting action forces a continuous core of the formation into the core barrel. Due to the high forces developed by the sonic head and the externally flush drill string, the excess formation material generated at the bit is forced into the borehole wall, resulting in the generation of little or no cuttings during the drilling and sampling process. Essentially the only waste stream from the sonic method is the actual soil core itself.

TEI ROCK DRILLS (Ref#1315Nj)
5 ft feed frame for 5 ft rods, currently with NWJ threads, 4500 lb pull back hydraulic ram with #80 chain, twin rotary motors, high speed and low speed max torque of 2,000 ft lbs mounted on a track carrier (55wide), ground psi of 3.9 with added equipment.
The second SC 50 carrier carries the air compressor, 150 gallons of water and bentonite or gravel, or just 300 gallons of water with no compressor for water type drilling.
