The Sonic drill method has been selected for all of the external locations along with any internal sample point that is accessible to the equipment. A sonic drill head is used for the drilling and sampling method. The head is a technologically advanced, hydraulically activated unit that imparts a high frequency, sinusoidal wave vibration into the drill string to effectuate the cutting action at the bit face. The resultant cutting action forces a continuous core of the formation into the core barrel. Due to the high forces developed by the sonic head and the externally flush drill string, the excess formation material generated at the bit is forced into the borehole wall, resulting in the generation of little or no “cuttings” during the drilling and sampling process.
